Green team initiative:

The green team would like to do a school wide activity to help the animals in Australia.

“A staggering 1 billion animals are now estimated dead in Australia's fires. The number of kangaroos, koalas, and others killed keeps skyrocketing.”

The name of this activity is:

THE GOAL: Students will draw a picture of a Koala bear or an animal of their choice that lives in Australia. When their art is complete, they will take it home to show it to their parents.  Parents will then have a choice to "purchase" their own child’s artwork with a donation of their choice towards helping the wildlife affected by the wildfires.

A letter will go home with your child’s artwork and information about the various foundations accepting money.  If a donation is made, parents can fill out the section of the letter indicating the foundation. We would ask that all forms be returned to the school, so the Green team can create an honour wall in the front lobby showing the different families that have donated (the money amounts will not be on display...but the green team will be keeping track of the total).

This activity is optional... so not all classes will choose to participate.

Thanks so much,

The GREEN team
