Cardboard Challenge allows for design thinking and creativity

Welcome to our STEAM Room! STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, and persist in problem solving.

In our STEAM Room, emphasis is on problem-solving, collaborating with others, failing, developing grit and resiliency, and finally, creating something to solve a real-world problem using both digital and physical materials. Our students are exposed to coding, robotics, design thinking and creativity challenges using the design process to guide their thinking.

As we rethink traditional approaches to education and prepare our students for a changing world, we want to provide opportunities for students to practice the global competencies of collaboration, communication, creativity, problem solving and critical thinking, while at the same time being responsible citizens where everyone achieves success and well-being. We are often collecting donations of crafting supplies (buttons, material, felt, yarn) to help suppliment our making. We welcome community partners and experts to help us learn new ideas and skills that help expand our thinking. Learn more about our STEAM learning by visiting our Full STEAM Ahead Blog.
